MEET THE HONORARY CURATOR: CARY LEIBOWITZ

Cary Leibowitz is a renowned artist, print expert and collector. We are delighted to have him as Honorary Curator for Hard Pressed! In addition to defining this year’s theme, Leibowitz is creating a new print for us and has donated a work to the Auction.

See Cary's phenomenal house and collection in this video, or in the full article "An Eccentric Upstate Home That Some People Confuse for a Restaurant," from The New York Times.

Leibowitz, also known as “Candy Ass,” is an American artist whose work has shown at the ICA Boston; Art Institute of Chicago; The Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, OH; The Indianapolis Museum of Art; The Walker Arts Center, Minneapolis; the Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum, Jewish Museum and MoMA PS1, all New York; Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia; Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art; The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, PA; The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT; as well as many international venues. His work—which includes prints, paintings, sculpture, and installation—is full of humor and pathos. He often uses everyday items as a vehicle for his works, and is dedicated to the idea of the multiple. In addition to his artistic practice, Leibowitz is Worldwide Co-Head of Editions at Phillips.
