Allison Watkins

Allison Watkins (San Francisco, CA) is a visual artist who currently explores our perceptions of materiality through her photography and textile based works. She received a BFA from the San Jose State University, San Jose, CA and an MFA from San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA.  She is interested in documenting the instability of all forms and how our grasp of, and relationships to these forms change throughout time. Her works have been shown in exhibitions at the Textile Arts Center, New York, NY; Chandra Cerrito Contemporary, Oakland, CA; San Francisco Camerawork, San Francisco, CA; San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose, CA; and Napa Valley Museum, Yountville, CA among others. Watkins teaches fine art photography at colleges and universities in the Bay Area. She was recently an affiliate artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, CA and is represented by En Em Art Space, Sacramento, CA.
