Ellie Brown’s photographs focus on pre-adolescent girls. She is particularly interested in the coming of age experience and documents the lives of specific girls as they go through these life changes. Her work captures these girls as they face identity crises. Her purpose in creating this long-term body of work was to promote understanding and break down stereotypes about girls in our culture. Ellie Brown received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and her MFA from San Jose State University. She has been included in numerous shows across the country and has had two recent solo shows at Morris Graves Museum in Eureka, CA and Southern Light Gallery in Amarillo, TX.
