DESCRIPTION:Ron Tarver\, Rodeo Queen\, Okmulgee\, OK\, 1993\nPlease join us for a Gallery Talk and Opening Reception for Ron Tarver\, The Long Ride Home: Black Cowboys in America. \n5:30pm – Gallery Talks\n6 – 7:30pm – Opening Reception \nThis group of color photographs made in the 1990s celebrates Black cowboy culture\, challenges the whitewashed myth of the all-American cowboy and deconstructs ideas of Black identity. Tarver’s images offer testimony to the lived experiences of a thriving community\, offering insightful glimpses into the lives of Black people embodying their Western cultural heritage. \nThe exhibition will be on view September 11 – November 14\, 2026. \nFree and open to the public.
