SUMMARY:DINNER DATE with Jesse Burke & Robert Morrison
DESCRIPTION:Jesse Burke\, I’ll Fly Away II\, 2014\nPlease join us for The Print Center’s spring fundraiser\, Dinner Date\, with artist Jesse Burke and renowned collector Robert Morrison April 27\, 2016. \n\n\n\n\nJesse Burke is known for his dramatically vivid photographs. His Wild & Precious series was created over the last five years\, as he traveled across the country with his young daughter Clover exploring\, communing and sometimes bumping up against nature. The series\, and its accompanying book\, have generated international attention\, not only for its beautiful images\, but also for its intimate depiction of the close relationship between the photographer and his collaborator/daughter. It also tells the story of our relationship to our environment\, urging us to rebuild our connections with the natural world. Works from Burke’s Wild & Precious series are included in By the Book\, The Print Center’s current exhibition.\n\n\n\nBurke holds an MFA from RISD\, Providence\, RI\, where he teaches photography\, and a BFA from the University of Arizona\, Tucson\, AZ. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at the RISD Museum\, Providence\, RI; ClampArt\, New York\, NY; Newspace Center for Photography\, Portland\, OR; and Rayko Photo Center\, San Francisco\, CA. Burke’s work is included in many public collections including the Museum of Contemporary Photography\, Columbia College\, Chicago\, IL; Museum of Fine Arts\, Houston\, TX; RISD Museum\, Providence\, RI; North Carolina Museum of Art\, Raleigh\, NC; Newport Art Museum\, Newport\, RI; and\, David Winton Bell Gallery\, Brown University\, Providence\, RI. This past fall he was a guest host on The Print Center’s Instagram feed\, as part of our Centennial celebration. An exhibition of Burke’s work\, paired with the photographer Nils Ericson\, was organized by The Print Center in 2011.\n\n\n\nDinner Date will begin at The Print Center at 6:00pm with a private champagne tour of Burke’s work in our exhibition By the Book led by the artist and John Caperton\, Jensen Bryan Curator.
