DESCRIPTION:Ron Tarver\, Sunflower Trail Ride\, Brackettville to San Antonio TX\, 1994\nWe are pleased to invite you to a Summer Soirée! Join us for our spring fundraiser with special guest Ron Tarver\, a Pulitzer Prize-winning\, Philadelphia-based photographer. \nThe evening will begin at 5:30pm with delicious hors d’oeuvres and summer cocktails. Guests will also enjoy a final look at America Today: Voices in Contemporary Print and a sneak preview of our fall exhibition. \n6pm\, Exhibition Tour\nExperience an intimate\, guided walkthrough with Jensen Bryan Curator Lauren Rosenblum. \n6:45pm\, Remarks\nHear about our fall exhibition\, The Long Ride Home\, Black Cowboys in America from Ron Tarver\, who will share stories about his multi-decade project on Black cowboy culture. \n  \nSupporters will enjoy cocktails and conversation with Tarver and tour of America Today. Born in Oklahoma\, he has a BA in Journalism and Graphic Arts from Northeastern State University\, OK and an MFA from the University of the Arts\, Philadelphia. He is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist from his years at The Philadelphia Inquirer; he also received awards from World Press Photos and the Society of Professional Journalists\, as well as a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in collections including: National Museum of American Art\, Smithsonian Institution; Studio Museum in Harlem; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. He is Associate Professor of Art\, Swarthmore College.

Grab a friend and join us! \nAmerica Today is a groundbreaking exhibition that brings together contemporary artworks from six community-centered\, mission-based printshops across the US to consider the breadth of the American experience in the context of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
