Karlawish, a specialist in aging and neuroscience will converse with Rosenblum as they walk through the exhibition, discussing how the artworks reveal the artists\u2019 experiences as caregivers, as well as insights from current research on dementia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/printcenter.org\/100\/fall-2025\/\"><em><strong>Memory, Loss<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, on view at The Print Center September 12 \u2013 November 22, 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f25900;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #f25900;\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdoC-oHNNGrP1BUFG4gPNaWJxczf7canynWt2kNTYR1zAIHaA\/viewform?usp=header\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Register to attend<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This program is free and open to the public.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Jason Karlawish<\/strong> is a physician and writer. A professor of medicine, medical ethics and health policy, and neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, he is co-director of the <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/pennmemorycenter.org\/\">Penn Memory Center,<\/a> where he cares for patients and their families, and studies the bioethics of aging with a focus on diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer\u2019s disease and Lewy body disease. Dr. Karlawish is the author of <em><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/books\/9781250218742\">The Problem of Alzheimer\u2019s: How Science, Culture and Politics Turned a Rare Disea<\/a>s<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/books\/9781250218742\">e Into a Crisis and What We Can Do About It<\/a> <\/em>and the novel <em>Open Wound: The Tragic Obsession of Dr. William Beaumont<\/em>. His essays have appeared in publications such as <em>The Hill<\/em>, <em>The New York Times<\/em>, <em>Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em>, <em>STAT<\/em>, <em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em> and <em>The Washington Post<\/em>. \u201cNeurotransmissions,\u201d his column in <em>STAT<\/em>, draws on stories his clinical practice, interviews with experts, and historical and cultural studies to examine the personal, local, and national solutions needed to tackle the vast problem of dementia. He is the executive producer of <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/age-of-aging\/id1757439424\">The Age of Aging<\/a>, a podcast examining how to live well with an aging brain. In 2024, in collaboration with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, he co-produced and presented the <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmsconcerts.org\/projects\/arts-mind\/\">Arts on the Mind Festival<\/a>. He serves on the Board of Directors of <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/playonphilly.org\/\">Play On! Philly<\/a>, a non-profit providing orchestral music education for underserved children throughout Philadelphia.
