Join us at The Print Center for an Artist Talk with Gerald Cyrus<\/strong>, sponsored by the Darryl Chappell Foundation<\/strong><\/a>. Cyrus will discuss his artistic career and inspirations.<\/span><\/p>\n

For more than forty years, Cyrus has documented Afrodescendant communities across the United States, Brazil, Cuba and Africa. Working primarily in black-and-white film, but also recently in color, his images move between documentary, portraiture and surrealism, revealing both the beauty of everyday life and the enduring legacies of Africa. His gelatin silver prints capture a full spectrum of tones, offering intimate, humanistic portraits that resist archetypes and highlight the richness of lived experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Darryl Chappell Foundation\u2019s mission is to empower Afrodescendant artists to achieve their highest potential, with a vision of a community of artists working together to inspire societal transformation, driving equity, human rights and cultural enrichment in local communities throughout the world through art.
