Sarah Kabot (born 1976, Royal Oak, MI; lives Cleveland, OH) received a BFA in ceramics and fibers from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1998, and an MFA in fibers from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI in 2002. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Akron Museum of Art, OH; Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland; SPACES, Cleveland; The Drawing Center, New York, NY; The Suburban, Oak Park, IL; Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA; and Tegnerforbundet, Oslo, Norway. Honors include artist residencies at UCross Foundation, Clearmont, WY; Dieu Donné, New York; and Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, CA; as well as several grants including a 2017 Cleveland Arts Prize; three Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards; and a 2021 Knight Foundation Technology Grant. Kabot’s work is held in public and private collections including the Cleveland Clinic; Progressive Insurance, Mayfield, OH; and The West Collection, Oaks, PA. Recently, her work was featured in Parallax. She is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Drawing Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art.

Kabot’s work explores everyday objects and sites that are typically believed to embody shared societal truths, including public monuments, libraries and news media.
