Noah Addis (born 1975, Willingboro, NJ; lives Los Angeles, CA) worked as a staff photojournalist for New Jersey’s The Star-Ledger, where he won numerous awards including a shared 2005 Pulitzer Prize. He has been awarded fellowships from the Center for Emerging Visual Artists, George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation, Independence Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council. Addis was a recipient of a Philadelphia Museum of Art Photography Portfolio Award, was selected for a Photolucida Critical Mass Top 50 and was awarded a Solo Show Award from Blue Sky Gallery, Portland, OR. Solo and group exhibitions include Pictura Gallery, Bloomington, IN; Loyola University Museum of Art, Chicago, IL; Main Line Art Center, Haverford, PA; Center for Emerging Visual Artists and 110 Church Gallery, both Philadelphia, PA; and the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, Portland, ME. Addis’ work has been published in AintBad, The British Journal of Photography, Fraction Magazine, Justapoz, Lens Culture, Life Magazine’s Year in Pictures, Monocle, The New York Times, Newsweek,Photo District News, The Photo Review, Slate.com, Time, The Wall Street Journal andWired.  

Statement from the Artist:
My work is rooted in classic street and documentary photography. My new work is a search for stillness and order among the tumultuousness of contemporary life.
