Jessica Buie (born 1991, San Antonio, TX; lives Austin, TX) received a BA from St. Edward’s University, Austin in 2013 and an MFA from the University of California San Diego in 2018. While in California, she worked as an artist assistant to photographer Ken Gonzales-Day. Her work has been shown at Other Subjects, Brooklyn, NY; the Houston Center For Photography, TX; Public Pool Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; and the San Diego Art Institute. Buie’s work is included in the permanent collection of the Thomas J. Watson Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY and has appeared in publications by the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography, Aint-Bad, Press & Fold, HEADS Magazine and Balam. Buie co-founded Private Practice, an artist-run studio and gallery space in Austin.
