Colleen Keihm (born Levittown, NY; lives Chicago, IL) received a BS from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA and an MFA from the University of Illinois Chicago. Her work has been exhibited at Filter Photo, Flatland, FLXST Contemporary, Roman Susan and Tiger Strikes Asteroid, all Chicago. She has been an artist in residence at Hatch Projects at the Chicago Artist Coalition, Institut fur alles Mogliche in Berlin, Germany, and Studio 3325 in Chicago. Keihm’s work is included in the photography collection at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago. She is a member of the Midwest Photographers Project and the Executive Director of Latitude.
Statement from the artist:
I’ve been drawn to, and have admired, both minimalist artifacts and illustrious men. I once regarded images of these persons and things in books as precious and monumental, but now I am interested in what can be created using the pages as materials which I rip, bend, and shine light through.
