The journey to reach the opening of Demetrius Oliver: Canicular has been at times challenging but ultimately an exciting progress. In handing over not only the gallery walls to Oliver, but the entire interior and exterior of the building, The Print Center has been pushed to think outside the box–literally. You will find one framed photo on the wall as well as eight video monitors, an observatory with a human size dog door, a sculpture that includes over 40 five gallon paint buckets, new red and green lighting on the first floor, an exterior sign that lights up when the exhibition is open and an audio component composed by the artist and performed on a dog whistle. Canicular is unlike anything ever seen at The Print Center–no amount of words or pictures can do it justice. You will have to experience it for yourself!
