DESCRIPTION:JOIN US FOR A BOOK LAUNCH \nWednesday\, April 11\, 2018\, 6:00pm \nCliff Ross and Philippe Jean: Philadelphia Neighborhood Typefaces \nDesigner Cliff Ross continues leading the way in font innovation through a unique collaboration with local Philadelphia artist\, Philippe Jean. The two artists met years ago as co-workers at Philadelphia Weekly. Together\, the pair has created a book featuring Cliff’s original Philly Fonts and Philippe’s artwork\, all inspired by the city of Philadelphia. \nThe publication is a hybrid of fine art and typography design. Cliff Ross has always had a passion for great typography\, and in 2017 released the first collection of ‘Philly Fonts’. The set featured 10 fonts representing neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. A second generation of fonts\, ‘The Contour Collection’\, was created and launched later that year. In the book\, each font and the complimentary piece of artwork represents a different neighborhood of Philadelphia. Places like Bella Vista\, Manayunk\, Swampoodle and El Centro de Oro have all been represented in font form and accompanied by art\, also inspired by the area. The hardcover book was designed\, printed\, and made in Pennsylvania. Each book also includes a sheet insert of ‘Philly Dingbat’ stickers. The ‘Obvious Philly Dingbats’ was the first collection of Philly-inspired glyphs\, released by Cliff Ross last year. \nYou can find and download all the Philly Fonts at www.phillyfonts.com. \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThis event is free and open to the public. \n

DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Print Center is very pleased to host the Philadelphia launch of renowned photographer Andrea Modica‘s new photobook titled January 1. The book explores the Philadelphia tradition of the Mummers through a portraits of participants in the brigade known as Wenches. This is the culmination of a 10-year project\, made over 10 New Year’s days from 2009 -2018. \nPlease join us for a reception to celebrate the launch of January 1. \nThe beautifully crafted book was published by L’Artiere (Bentivoglio\, Italy) in an edition of 700. The 64 pages contain 27 tritone black and white plates reproduced at the 10″ x 8″ size of Modica’s original platinum/palladium contact prints. The luxe black cover is printed with silver ink\, $72. \nSpecial edition print from January 1 by Andrea Modica\, 2018\n  \nIn addition to Andrea Modica‘s luxurious book January 1\, we are pleased to offer an exclusive limited edition book and print set in conjunction with the release.
