Henry Gepfer (born 1986, Lancaster, PA; lives Lancaster) earned a BSE in art education from Millersville University and an MFA in printmaking from Edinboro University, both PA. Gepfer teaches at Gettysburg College, PA; Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, Lancaster and works as a press operator for Risolve Studio, Lancaster. Gepfer has served on the board of the Mid America Print Council and as a curator with Little Berlin, Philadelphia. Gepfer’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at the Susquehanna Museum of Art, Harrisburg, PA; Heeschen Gallery, Meadville, PA; and the Carnegie Center for Art and History, New Albany, IN. Gepfer has completed artist residencies both nationally and internationally with Zygote Press, Cleveland, OH; the Wassaic Project, NY; as well as Sparkbox Studio, Picton, Ontario, Canada, and has participated in The Fabric Workshop and Museum’s Apprentice Training program, Philadelphia. Gepfer was a Finalist in The Print Center’s 87th ANNUAL.
Statement from the Artist:
I am deeply interested in printmaking and photography as historic and contemporary forms. With history comes expectation, and I find expectation to be an exciting arena for play.
