Steven Baris (born Aberdeen, WA; lives Havertown, PA) received a BA from Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA and an MFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Baris has exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions, most recently at ODETTA, New York; and Pentimenti Gallery, Philadelphia; as well as Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce, Poland; and Museum Wilhelm Morgner, Soest, Germany. Baris’ work is included in permanent museum collections in Poland and Greece along with numerous private and corporate collections. His work has been featured in many publications, including Art in America. Among other awards, he was the recipient of a Pollack-Krasner Grant.
Statement from the Artist:
These prints come from my Exurban Archipelago multimedia project, an exploration of contemporary exurban landscapes with emphasis on the proliferating complexes of distribution/fulfillment centers. In these prints, I merged fragments of documentary photographs, videos and paintings.
