Ben Altman (Danby, NY) trained as an artist by studying physics, towing icebergs, racing sailboats and working as a commercial photographer. After moving to the US from his native England, he spent twenty-five years in Chicago; he now lives near Ithaca, NY. Altman was recently awarded the Houston Center for Photography’s 2015 Fellowship and was a Critical Mass 2014 Finalist. In the past year his work has been exhibited at Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, NY; Soho Photo Gallery and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Artspace, New York, NY; David Weinberg Photography, Chicago, IL; Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Fort Wayne, IN; Texas Woman’s University; RayKo, San Francisco, CA; Corners Gallery, Ithaca, NY; among others venues. His work has been published online by Feature Shoot and Lenscratch.
