Maggy Aston (born 1960, San Juan, Puerto Rico; lives Greensboro, PA) is a mixed-media artist whose work explores connections between science, nature and the decorative arts. Her recent monotypes contrast 19th century conceptions of nature with the rural-industrial landscapes of contemporary Appalachia. She is an Associate Professor of Art at California University of Pennsylvania where she teaches drawing and natural science illustration. Aston has exhibited her work multiple times at the Maryland Federation of Art, Annapolis; Monotype Guild of New England, Cambridge, MA; The Delta National Small Prints Exhibitions, Jonesboro, AK; Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, Newcastle, PA; and Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibitions, Peoria, IL. She has exhibited her prints at Site:Brooklyn Gallery and the International Print Center New York. Her prints are held in various university collections; the Butler Museum of American Art, Youngstown, OH; and the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris.
