Lauren Davies (Cleveland, OH) received her MFA in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her photo-based projects, sculptures and mixed media installations address issues ranging from alternative historical narratives to the impact of the new economy on industry in the Rust Belt. Her work has been included in exhibitions at the Oakland Museum of California; Exploratorium, Intersection for the Arts, Nelson Gallery, University of California, Davis; and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, all in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as The University of Akron, OH; ‘sindikit Projects, Baltimore; SPACES, Cleveland; The Sculpture Center, NY; and the University City Science Center, Philadelphia. Davies has been an artist-in-residence at The Lab and California Academy of Sciences, both San Francisco; Santa Fe Art Institute and Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Woodside, CA as well as La Porte Peinte, Noyers, France. She received two Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Excellence Awards and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artist Grant. Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, Art Hopper, Art LTD, Art Papers, Cleveland Plain Dealer and San Francisco Chronicle, among other publications.
