Thorsten Dennerline

 

Thorsten Dennerline (Bennington, VT) produces paintings, drawings and artistsʼ books. The main focus of all the work originates from an interest in poetry and the relationship between text and image. This has led to collaborative projects with writers in book form and paintings and drawing projects that explore the poetic possibilites of the landscape. He received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, in 1994 and an MFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, in 1997. He has exhibited his work across the United States, as well as in Valparaiso, Chile, and Copenhagen, Denmark. His prints and books are included in numerous collections including The Saint Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, MO; Kunstindustri Museet, Copenhagen Denmark; Mortimer Rare Book Room, Smith College, Northampton, MA; Yale University Library, New Haven, CT; University of Vermont Special Collections, Burlington, VT; Library of Congress, Washingto, DC; and libraries at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, and University of California, CA. Most recently he has had solo exhibitions at Galleri Tom Christoffersen, Copenhagen, Denmark, and group exhibitions at International Print Center New York, New York, NY and Dishman Art Museum, Beaumont, TX. In 2000, he was awarded a one year Fulbright grant for Research and Study Abroad where he produced a large body of paintings and collaborative book project with Chilean printmakers. He has been a resident artist at the MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, NH, Frans Masereel Center, Kasterlee, Belgium, and most recently at Læsø Artists’ Studio, Læsø, Denmark. He is currently on the faculty at Bennington College, Bennington, VT.
