Rocio De Alba

Rocio De Alba (Queens, NY) is a fine art photographer and photo instructor based in Queens, New York. She received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2007 and has enjoyed employment with various adult continuation photography schools throughout Manhattan. Rocio is a stock photographer for Getty Images since 2008; this opportunity has given her images international recognition. Rocio has participated in-group exhibitions both in Los Angeles and in New York. In 2012 The Queens Council on the Arts, NY honored her with the Individual Artists Initiative (IAI) award for her commitment in the arts. In December 2013, she was selected from 1900 submissions to participate in the Curate NYC Festival and Art Exhibition, curated by Anna Zekria. And in January 2014 Rocio became a semi-finalist, chosen from over 650 international entries, to the prestigious Print Center’s 88th Annual Competition and exhibition. Most recently she was awarded a partial scholarship to attend a three day editing retreat at the Fotovisura lodge in Vermont where she will work one-on-one with Whitney Johnson, Director of Photography for The New Yorker. The volume of her work consists mainly of portraits taken over the course of several years and focus primarily on the dynamics of her personal relationships.
