Jorge Fuembuena (Madrid, Spain) is a fellow at La Casa de Velázquez (Madrid, Spain). His work was recently included in the exhibition Contexto Crítico. Spanish Photography of the XXI Century at Tabacalera (Madrid, Spain) and New Spanish Photography. He is also included in the book “The A-Z of Spanish Photographers ”about Spanish photography that La Fábrica publishing house has recently published in 2014. He is also one of the ten spanish photographers who will exhibit in New York in the NEW SPANISH PHOTOGRAPHY_Visions beyond borders in the main hall of King Juan Carlos I Center of New York University.
He has participated in the prestigious international program Plat(t)form 2013, curated by the Fotomuseum Winterthur (Switzerland). Selected in the Austro Sino Arts Program project exhibition 2012 (Beijing, China), his work is shown in Biennials such as Fotoseptiembre 2011 (CCEMEX. Mexico D.F), Fotonoviembre 2011 (Mapfre Foundation, Tenerife) and the Casablanca Biennale 2012. He also presents his work in solo exhibitions at festivals such as Paraty Em Foco 2013 (Brazil), curated by Claudi Carreras, the International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts Photoespaña 2013, PalmaPhoto 2013 (Palma de Mallorca), in spaces like MataderoMadrid curated by Pablo Berastegui, the IAACC Pablo Serrano and collectively in places like La Casa Encendida, Madrid, curated by Oliva María Rubio, and the Encontros Da Imagem Festival 2012 (Braga, Portugal), curated by Rui Prata.Among other prizes, his work has been awarded in Generaciones Caja Madrid 2011, the International Festival of Visual Arts Emergent 2010, OCEMX Award 2011 (Mexico City), ARCO 2010 Photo reportage Prize and Gold Medal at the PX3 Prix 2012 (Paris, France), Santa Isabel de Portugal Photography Award (young author) 2008, honourable Mention in IPA 2012 Competition (Lucie Foundation, NYC). He has received grants such as the Santa Maria de Albarracin Photography Foundation 2010, the Encontro de Artistas Novos Cidade Da Cultura 2011, or the the Istituto Europeo di Design Fine Art Photography Grant 2013. He has published in specialized journals such as EXIT, OjodePez, EFE24 and 30y3 Spanish Photography and he is currently represented by The New Gallery (Madrid), Addaya Art Contemporani (Mallorca) , La Carboneria (Huesca), Carolina Rojo art Gallery ( Zaragoza) and Plainpicture Agency.His work can be found in private and public collections including the Caja Madrid Collection and DKW Collection.
