Lucy Wood Baird (b. 1987, Chicago, IL) holds a BA in Social Anthropology from Harvard University, 2010 and an MFA in Photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, 2016. Baird’s work has been included in exhibitions across the country, including Harvey Meadows Gallery, Aspen, 2017; Aviary Gallery, Boston, 2016; Filter, Chicago, 2015; Aperture Foundation, NY, 2016; and Soil Gallery, Seattle, 2018. Her work is included in private collections nationally. She has been an artist in residence at Vermont Studio Center, Johnson and Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO.
Statement from the Artist:
Lucy Wood Baird’s work manifests itself as image, sculpture and installation. Neither image nor object but rather a third thing, her hybrid works are rooted in photography and are ultimately materially ambivalent.
