Joan Lobis Brown (b. Philadelphia; lives in New York) studied at The International Center of Photography New York. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh as well as holds a law degree from Fordham University and an MA in Law from Pace University. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in Africa, Australia, Europe and the U.S. Since 2013, she has been selected for 81 international juried competitions. Her work has been published online and in print magazines, such as The Huffington Post, mic.com, Hyperallergic, The Photo Review, Featureshoot, POZ and others. Her portrait projects highlight segments of our society that have been subjected to intense stigma. Her landscape projects include subjects like global warming. Past projects have also used photography to propose worlds in which reality is overtaken by imagination.
