Liad Shadmi (b. 1990, Israel) is a BFA candidate in the Department of Design and Visual Communications at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, Israel. He is a freelance graphic designer and photographer. His work has been published in World of Packaging Design, Packaging of the World, Designboom and Experimenta.
Statement from the Artist:
From 1949 to 1959, the state of Israel was, to a varying degrees, under a regime of austerity (in Hebrew: צנע, Tzena’), during which rationing and similar measures were enforced. These designs draw upon values of simplicity, functionality and meagerness. Each package has a red mark that indicates where it can be opened.
