Alice Leora Briggs (Lubbock, TX) received her MA and MFA from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She has received fellowships from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Tulsa Artist Fellowship and Utah Arts Council, and served as a Fulbright Scholar at Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava, Slovakia. She is currently collaborating with the journalist Julián Cardona to create an unhinged graphic glossary of the language of violence in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Her work is included in numerous public collections, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR; University of Chicago; Denver Art Museum; El Paso Museum of Art; Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock; Phoenix Art Museum; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, AZ; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Tucson Museum of Art; and Library of Congress, Washington, DC.
