Lauren Pakradooni’s exhibition, Static Slip, was inspirational to 11th and 12th graders at the Charter High School for Architecture + Design. Students photographed environments that they frequently spend time in, and reviewed the pictures as a group. Students were asked to choose one of their photographs and then incorporate it in the design of a three-dimensional structure. They developed stories about the environments they constructed, and once they were satisfied with their three-dimensional artworks, they manipulated the structures to expand on the original composition, much like Pakradooni does. Students also constructed their own colored photographic gels to alter the color of the artificial light in their classroom and re-photographed the structures.
