Heather Ujiie (Langhorne, PA) received her BS in Visual Art from the State University of New Paltz, NY, and also holds an Art Education Degree from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY, and an Associates Degree in Textile Surface Design, from The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY. She has over fifteen years experience as a textile designer, designing printed textiles for the high-end home furnishing market including Schumacher, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Stroheim & Romann, Kravet and Waverly. Her commercial printed textile designs have had numerous clients, including The White House private residences for President George W. Bush and Laura Bush. Recently her focus has been on creating textile/art installations. Within the last three years, her work has gained exposure in Philadelphia, winning the prestigious Wind Challenge Award Exhibition 2009/10, at the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial. Her printed work has been included in exhibitions at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE and The Philadelphia International Airport.
