Veronica Jackson
Semifinalist
Veronica Jackson’s (born Washington, DC; lives Virginia) work builds on her background as an interpretive exhibit designer and architect to critically examine the lives of Black figures in our cultural landscape. She holds a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and an MA in Visual & Critical Studies from the California College of the Arts, San Francisco. Her work has been exhibited at the Bower Center for the Arts, Bedford, VA; Chroma Projects, FLOW Art Festival, McGuffey Art Center and Piedmont Virginia Community College, all Charlottesville; 536 Gallery/Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History, VA; Riverviews Artspace, Lynchburg, VA; Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, NY; The Arts Center in Orange, VA; Visual Arts Center of Richmond, VA; and Verge Center for the Arts, Sacramento, CA, among others. Her work is in the collections of Virginia Humanities, Charlottesville, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond. Jackson has attended artist residencies at the Ali Youssefi Project Warehouse Artist Lofts/Verge Center for the Arts, Santa Fe Art Institute, Visual Art Center of Richmond, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Women’s Studio Workshop. Jackson’s work has been featured in the Massachusetts Daily Collegian, Views (published by Virginia Humanities) and Vinegar Hill Magazine.
