Lo Smith (b. 1993, Cleveland, OH; l. Brooklyn, NY) has a BA in Fine Art and Public Health from Brown University, Providence, RI. Smith’s work has been shown at Norman Schafer Gallery,  Brooklyn, NY; Cleveland Institute for Art and Morgan Conservatory, both Cleveland, and Riffe Gallery, Columbus, all OH; Medici Gallery, Lincoln, NE and the Stonewall Inn, New York, NY. Smith’s curatorial work has been presented at/published by the Cleveland Museum of Art and The Sculpture Center, both Cleveland, OH; New York University, NY; and Southern Graphics Conference International. Smith is an MFA candidate at Pratt Institute.

Statement from the Artist:
Smith is interested in reproductive justice, revisionist history, Black joy and the democratic possibilities of print. Smith’s silkscreen and collagraph prints interrogate hidden histories of medical experimentation on Black bodies, untold stories of Black American life, and their own queer positionality and future.
