Fatema Abdoolcarim (Copenhagen, Denmark) received her BA in Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, and her MFA in Fine Arts at California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA. Her works have been exhibited in shows including: BEAUTY, Berkeley Art Center, Berkeley, CA; Inaugural Exhibition, New Shelter Plan, Copenhagen, Denmark; The distant blue, Floskl Galeri, Copenhagen, Denmark; SCREEN X EXPERIMENTA, Art Central, Hong Kong, China; The Alchemical Garden of Desire, McClelland Sculpture Park & Gallery, Melbourne, Australia; International Women’s Day, Luggage Store Gallery, San Francisco, CA; and John Baldessari: Class Assignments, Wattis Institute, San Francisco, CA. In 2012 she was awarded the Murphy & Cadogan Contemporary Art Award from The San Francisco Foundation. Her work in collaboration with the documentary-art group Ultramar Collective is part of the video collection at Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain. In September, 2016, she will begin a PhD in Art History and Creative Writing at The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK, where she will develop her first feature film as part of her doctoral thesis.
